Waterbirds in the UK Report 2018 / 19

The latest BTO/RSPB/JNCC Wetland Bird Survey report has been published, including data from September 1966 up to June 2019. For the first time, trends over 25 years and 10 years for wintering waterbirds are tabulated for Wales, Scotland, England and Northern Ireland individually, as well as for the UK as whole.

The latest report includes articles focusing on European White-fronted Goose, Cormorant, Goldeneye and Lapwing. The report also summarises the findings of the 2019 WeBS Alerts report on how well waterbirds are doing on protected sites, and a review of the impacts and future potential impacts climate change may have on our wintering wetland avifauna.

With data available online for all WeBS sites from 1966/67 onwards, why not explore how waterbird numbers are changing at a wetland site near you?
